PRESS RELEASE:
Ulster Artist, Karl Harron receives his “Oscar”
As important as winning an Oscar is to an aspiring actor, the same can be said for an artist’s piece selected for the permanent Collection at The National Museum of Ireland for Decorative Arts. Ulster Artist, Karl Harron’s craftsmanship and skills have proved worthy to be part of such a prestigious Collection.

The chosen masterpiece richly contributes to Ireland’s Decorative Arts, Culture and Heritage, the piece demonstrating a highly personal originality of sublime design combined with his master craftsmanship.

After 20 years of creating and studying glass, Karl Harron made a personal realisation that would alter his creative perception of the material forever. Fusing specific glasses together, Karl realised they reacted at their interfaces to create a 3rd element within the body of the piece. No two pieces emerged similar as a result of this process with each piece evolving into a new form. Engaging the material in both its fluid and solid states has shaped unique delicate designs not usually associated with glass.

“ We have secured a collection of these unique Karl Harron glass pieces and are available at our Nassau Street gallery” explains Ann Sevastopulo, general manager of DESINGYARD, she adds “These pieces make a sculptural and decorative statement, promoting an appreciation for glass arts, especially works from Irish designers.”

Karl Harron, born in Belfast 1953 is transforming the Contemporary Fine Craft of glass fusing and kiln-forming in Ireland, from a thriving Studio producing unique Designs and exclusive Limited Series for his growing number of local and International Collectors.

Karl, who was Educated at Campbell College Belfast and the University of Ulster Faculty of Art and Design is currently involved in group and solo Exhibitions throughout Ireland, the U.K. and other prestigious International venues in the USA and France.

Emphasis on "Design-led, Innovative work with Aesthetic vision which demonstrates Investigation of Processes and Critical Enquiry." Karls' work is in Private and Public ownership in Ireland, U.K., U.S.A., Canada, Hong Kong, Germany, Australia, U.A.E. Singapore and France.
