"Reaction and Interaction"

This technically driven, hands-on Masterclass provides an opportunity for an
in-depth investigation into the aesthetic possibilities offered by Bullseye Reactive Glasses. Interaction will be the key: discussions, Power Point presentations and technical talks will encourage and enable participants to expand their ideas, and develop a skilled, intuitive approach to kiln-formed glass.

Participants will be encouraged to consider light, surface, pattern and movement using combinations of “reactive” glass powders, frits, stringers, rods and compatible sheet to create an extensive set of samples, evolving a personal language of mark making, to culminate in the realisation of a final piece.

Karl Harron is a respected and successful Glass Artist based in Northern Ireland. With an emphasis on design-led, innovative work, his distinctive style is characterised by the subtle tones and complex mark making created by exploiting a third element within the body of the piece, created at the interface between reactive glasses.

His aesthetic vision demonstrating profound appreciation of processes and critical enquiry, Harron has facilitated International Masterclasses, established Glass Studios, authored accredited glass courses and his work is held in Private and Public Collections throughout the world.
